Why We Do What We Do

Hello everybody, this is Warren from XL Stainless. I’m here today to talk a bit about our fabrication business here in Barrie, and why we do what we do. I’ve been fabricating for just over 30 years. I started out building race cars here in the Simcoe area, because I raced cars and thought I could build a better one than what other people were building, I’m not going to say it was, but when your 20 years old you think it is! I got involved in metal fabricating back then and I was a car mechanic by trade.

Once I got in my 30’s I started doing more and more metal fabricating and we got to the point where I was working full time. I have a passion for creating new things. If you want to make something, whatever it is; if you want to spend the time and put in the effort, you can pretty well make anything you want. That is the part I like.

You can have a job where you might make more money, but I think a lot of times you end up just having a mundane job that you don’t enjoy after awhile. We get a new challenge everyday. If I don’t have a challenge from a customer, I normally come up with some foolish idea of my own, just for a little challenge. That’s just a little bit of history on why I enjoy about fabricating.
